The Pokémon Go universe is buzzing right now between a leaked event, the eve of the Pokémon Go anniversary for the game and now, a special episode of Pokémon Direct is on the way. Fans believe that this could feature an announcement for Pokémon Go.

Special Episode On Pokémon Go Anniversary

While it is odd that Pokémon Direct will hold a special episode on the anniversary of the release of Pokémon Go, the teaser for the episode does not include Niantic.

“There’s exciting news on the way for Pokémon fans coming on June 6. Don’t miss a special Pokémon Direct hosted by Nintendo,” read the announcement.

“Watch the special presentation live online at 7 a.m. PST. Then visit for coverage of the news after the Pokémon Direct concludes.”

The news comes amidst a tumultuous time in the Pokémon Go atmosphere. Last week we revealed that the game is due for a big update and revisited all of the teasers for this summer. They included Legendary Pokémon, a gym rework and PvP play.

Along with those expected releases, we also stated that most players have caught up on all of the monsters in their Pokédex. This means the hunger for the third generation of monsters is growing.

Fire and Ice Event Leak

Then came a leak that changed a lot for fans. The report of a leaked Fire and Ice event made its way around the web sparking a bit of fire in fans.

“The event celebrates the beginning of summer in Northern and winter in Southern Hemisphere and should take place between June 13 1:00 P.M. PDT and June 20 1:00 P.M. PDT, 2017,” according to PokémongGoHub.

What made it more believable is the statement that was attached to the leak. That statement read:

With summer quickly approaching in the Northern Hemisphere and winter approaching in the Southern Hemisphere, we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate the upcoming solstices than with a Fire-type and Ice-type Pokémon GO event.

From 1:00 P.M. PDT on June 13 to 1:00 P.M. PDT on June 20, 2017, Trainers around the world will discover more Charmander, Cyndaquil, Growlithe, Houndour, Ponyta, Swinub, Vulpix, and their Evolutions. You’ll also want to keep an eye out for Sneasel, Magmar, Cloyster, and other Fire types and Ice types!

It’s time to perfect your Poké Ball throws, Trainers! Throughout the event, you’ll receive huge XP bonuses for successfully catching Pokémon with Nice, Great, and Excellent Throws, as well as Curveballs and First Throws. Additionally, as you walk around your neighborhoods or discover new sights, you’ll earn even more XP for hatching Eggs. To help you take advantage of these awesome XP bonuses, Lucky Eggs will be 50% off in the in-game shop.

Get ready to explore the world around you—there are even more exciting updates coming your way soon!

It is a very believable leak that was reportedly from the same source that leaked two other special events and announcements from Niantic.

While the leak is looking towards the June 13 date, after hearing about the Pokémon Direct special, fans are speculating that the date could be a smokescreen or, an addition to a bigger announcement.

Players do understand that Niantic does things upon their own accord. Much of the time, these speculations are just that. However, in rare instances they have dropped hints before the release of something big in the game.

Some fans also believed that data collected by The Silph Road, a site dedicated to research on all things Pokémon Go, could point to a possible release of new monsters.

“We are now confident that several less-desirable species have recently stopped appearing in eggs altogether, and other species have become more rare,” according to their report.

The last time there was a major egg move in Pokémon Go, the company shortly after released the second generation of monsters in the game.

The games official Twitter page has been quite silent aside from a tweet revealing the downloadable wallpapers from the game. The tweet also revealed that fans could learn how these awesome works of art are made.

At this point, every move that is made in the game has been looked at closely under a microscope in hopes that it can breed new light as to what exactly Niantic has in store for their hit game.

The Pokémon Go anniversary is a big milestone for the game that has almost single-handedly changed the way a mobile game is played. It takes the concept of augmented reality to a whole new level and the sky is truly the limit for the company.
