Most video game fans are never satisfied and are always looking forward to the next update. This applies to GTA 5 Online fans. The popular game has just received the Import/Export extension around a month ago, but players are already talking about what the next update could bring.
Unfortunately, there’s some bad news. According to renowned GTA tipster Yan2295, Import/Export might be the last major update that would come to GTA 5 Online. In fact, it was supposed to be the very last update for the game if developer and publisher Rockstar had their way, but distributor Take-Two Interactive understandably wants to milk this cash cow more. Because of this, GTA 5 Online will get more minor updates this year, but they’ll be less creative than the previous extensions and probably won’t have too much of an impact.
“But why wouldn’t Rockstar want to focus on GTA 5 Online when it brings them so much money?” you might wonder. The answer is pretty simple: they don’t have enough resources as of the moment. Yan2295 reveals that the previous GTA 5 Online team has been divided into four: one group is helping with Red Dead Redemption 2 (which will reportedly be released in autumn), another is working on a new game, and still another group is working on the next GTA game (possibly GTA 6). Just one-fourth of the original GTA 5 Online team is working on it now, making it impossible for them to release major updates with huge, complicated improvements.
This can be a huge disappointment for those who love playing GTA 5 Online, but it can also be taken as good news since it seems that Rockstar is gearing up for the next GTA installment. Just a reminder, though: Yan2295 points out that Rockstar and Take-Two Interactive have not confirmed this report, so it should be taken with a grain of salt.
