Sharing is caring!

Viber has received a new update for iOS and Android which contains Secret Messages, a feature that will allow users to send photos and videos with an expiration time and which will disappear, just like in Snapchat app.

Viber users will feel safer when talking to their friends and sharing important information. The application will now allow them to send secret messages, which will vanish from the conversation after a few seconds. The sender can set a timer for photos and videos to self-destruct after a while, and they will no longer be part of the conversation history.

These messages containing photos, videos or text will disappear after 1, 3, 7 or 10 seconds, but only after the recipient has opened them. If the recipient is inspired to take a screenshot of the message, then this feature will not save senders from an embarrassing situation, so it’s indicated to be more careful and not to share intimate photos, personal details or bank accounts.

In order to send a secret message, users will open up the conversation thread, insert a photo or a video or just write something, then select the timer and finally, hit send. The recipient will view the message and after a specified amount of time, the photo, video or text will disappear, like it was never sent. This feature is pretty awesome, but it was already introduced in other apps such as Snapchat and Instagram.

The new update of Viber for iPhones also brings rich notifications in iOS 10, which allows users to see the contents of chats. Also, photos and videos can be sent in their original size and quality. And instant video messages can have a maximum length of up to 30 seconds. Viber has even created a 34-second video about the new features and below you can find out more information about them, and how to use them:
