Kingdom Hearts 3 is very much expected to feature some cross-realm action. While the fans of the series are no strangers to seeing characters from other universes pop up in Kingdom Hearts and helping the game’s characters in the Keyblade Wars, they might not be prepared to see the likes of Iron Man, Thor, Hulk or Captain America join the fight.
Where did this possibility come from? Recently, Marvel and Square Enix, which also develops Kingdom Hearts, struck a multi-game deal which will allow the latter to create an Avengers video game. That’s incredibly exciting for any Marvel/Avengers fan out there, but it also brings up the possibility of seeing more than one game, and we’re not talking about Avengers 2.
Kingdom Hearts is a franchise that has had cameos from characters all over the Disney map. A large number of classic franchises such as Lion King, Pirates of the Caribbean or Tron have made their way into Kingdom Hearts, and some newer franchises like Big Hero Six also made the cut. It will be exciting in a way to see the Avengers assemble within the KH universe, but at the same time it would be a bit out of place and potentially awkward in the long run. Not to mention that as far as the story goes, KH is already packed, and it would be interesting to see how the developers manage to add Marvel heroes in there as well.
Regardless of whether or not Tony Stark and his team end up supporting KH, the game’s protagonist will remain Sora, which has been chose by the Keyblade to save the world. While these theories are being debated, the developer is hard at work pushing to bring us Kingdom Hearts 3. Since the game is still under development, it’s a bit too early to talk about a release date.
