Sony Xperia device users should be celebrating this moment with the recent release of Android 7.0 Nougat. In fact, the most recent Xperia devices that received the Nougat update are the Xperia Z5 and Z5 Premium. However, this would matter depending on the region in which users should begin receiving notifications.

Android Nougat on Xperia Z5

Only the Xperia Z5 Compact was not able to receive the latest version of Android during its rollout. However, in a recent report, Sony has confirmed that all Xperia Z5 smartphones are expected to receive this update.

Android Nougat Update on Xperia Z4 and Z3

Part of the rollout are the Xperia models Z4 and Z3+, which have now been receiving the update. Take note that the Nougat update for Xperia Z3+ and Xperia Z3+ Dual has a total size of 1.347GB. This is a bit more than the version for Z5 models. The said updates are going to be rolled out on the basis of location and market.

Some Xperia Devices Are Not Included

There are some exceptions to the said update though, such as the Xperia XA and XA Ultra. The company said that it would receive the Nougat update, as it is being aggressive in its campaign to update the firmware on its mobile devices. Perhaps the only Xperia devices that are being left out are the Xperia Z4 and Z4v.

According to a Sony executive, it is the initiative of the company to update as many devices as quickly as possible to the latest Android version. Thus, it is expected to gain improvements, such as new features and functionality. Nevertheless, the update will depend on the operator, country, market, and region where the smartphones are located. Therefore, there are no exact date in which the Xperia devices would receive the latest Android 7.0 Nougat update.
