Waze is a community based traffic and navigation application, which means that everyone who joins it can share real-time traffic and road info, saving other drivers time and gas. Unfortunately, the application doesn’t offer a built-in feature to save maps for offline use, but there are ways to get an offline copy and we’ll teach you how to do it.
So, if you want to save a Waze map offline, first you will have to open the application while WiFi or data connection is enabled, then enter the address of the location you want to go. The routing will be completed and these details will be kept in cache until you’ll close the application, so you can use these details without an internet connection. The only problem is that you won’t get map updates or other information about the real-life traffic until you’ll go online again.
Download Waze Traffic Info
While connected to the internet, open the application and again, type the desired location. The destination will be routed and you’ll tap on the Waze icon to get to the menu and when you see a tiny setting icon on the pop-up window, tap on it. Select Advanced Settings, then data transfer, Download traffic info and turn on the option to save traffic information. You will also have the possibility to find out how much data was cached by the application and the map can be updated with information from this window.
The latest update that the application has received for both Android and iOS allows you so search by category (restaurants, malls, parking etc.) and voice, and it doesn’t matter if your Waze is set in another language than the country you’re in, because it will recognize the name of the street. Also, there’s an “auto complete distance” feature that will tell you the distance to your location while you’re typing its name.
