The BlackBerry Priv model seems to be the latest phone that receives the newest security updates. Currently it is receiving the January update, which brings good news when it comes to security. BlackBerry is one of the brands that has risen fast on the market, aside from Google, and they are among the first to bring security updates to their phones. BlackBerry Priv is in fact the first Android smartphone produced by them. As such, it represents an important point in the company’s effort to resist in the smartphone market game.



In the beginning of this month, BlackBerry declared that they will be rolling out in January the security update for the Android smartphones. Initially, the update was brought to the BlackBerry Android models that were bought from the online store belonging to the OEM. As such, the carrier versions are lagging behind.

Even so, the US carriers rolled out the update for the BlackBerry Android they have in their portfolios. The latest one seems to be BlackBerry Priv on the T-Mobile network. As such, all the phones under this model which received the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow should be receiving the update. It brings some bug fixes, together with the January security patch, but there are no other improvements or features added.

Taking into account the fact that T-Mobile brought the previous updates in December and January, it is natural to expect another security update in February.
