WhatsApp is one of the best messaging apps of today. It’s no wonder then that it has more than 1 billion users and counting. So what exactly does this app do? It’s an all-in-one app where you get fast, simple, secure messaging and calling for free.
With your phone’s Internet connection, 4G /3G/2G/Edge or Wi-Fi, whichever is available, WhatsApp lets you message, call friends and family and stay connected anywhere in the world. One downside though is that tablets or Wi-Fi only devices is not yet officially supported. In addition, your phone has to be able to receive SMS or calls during the verification process.
WhatsApp on Samsung Phones
Samsung has always given the mobile market some cutting edge premium smartphones. With WhatsApp supporting all Android phones running Android 2.1 or later, Samsung mobile phones is a perfect partner. However, you need to have Android 4.1+ when using WhatsApp for video calls and chats for free.
Installing and using WhatsApp on your Samsung device is fairly easy. You just need to touch Apps from the Home screen. Touch Play Store then enter “WhatsApp” (without the quotation mark) in the Search box at the top. The pop-up auto-suggest would list WhatsApp, touch it and next tap Install.
Proper memory space on your device is needed. You may need to clear space by deleting apps that are no longer in use or by moving them to an SD card.
When the WhatsApp Messenger installation notification appears, just touch Accept and the installation starts.
Once installation is done, touch Open and the login screen is presented. A pop-up notifying the installation has finished will appear. You can touch the pop up to open WhatsApp or you can touch the WhatsApp icon on the Apps screen.
You can now start using WhatsApp on your Samsung phone provided the person you’re calling has WhatsApp installed on their phone too.
