A few months ago, Google has released the Android 7.0 Nougat for many Nexus and Pixel devices, but there are still many OEM devices that are waiting for it. Huawei, the company that owns the Honor sub-brand, has to confirm when its Honor 8 handset will receive the new operating system.
While the company has not mentioned anything about it yet, there are reports which are suggesting that the Android 7.0 Nougat update might be released for the Honor 8 earlier than expected.
It seems that Huawei Japan has already sent out a press release where it has confirmed that the Honor 8 will receive the Android 7 Nougat on January 16, 2017. In the press release, the company has mentioned that the Android 7.0 Nougat for the Honor 8 will include the new EMUI 5.0 user interface upgrade. This means that it will bring many new features to the user interface of the Android 7.0 Nougat.
The same press release has mentioned that the Android 7.0 Nougat for Honor 8 will have almost 2GB (1.97 to be more exact) in size, so you should connect to a Wi-Fi network before trying to download it to your device.
We remind you that Huawei recently mentioned that it is possible that the Honor 8 will receive the Android 7.0 Nougat sometime in February. However, the company didn’t specify an exact date when this will happen.
Unfortunately, it is not yet known when the Android 7.0 Nougat will be released for the Huawei Honor 8 in Europe. However, if you live in Japan, then you should manually check for the update by heading to the device’s Settings -> About -> Software Update.
Do you think that the Android 7.0 Nougat will be released for the Huawei Honor 8 in February 2017 or later?
