ZUK is a company that’s owned by Lenovo, which is planning to release the Android 7.0 Nougat for two of its flagship handsets sometime soon.
ZUK’s vice president has announced via the social media platform Weibo that both the ZUK Z2 and ZOK Z2 Pro, two devices that have been released in the mid-2016 with Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS out-of-the-box, will finally receive the Android 7.0 Nougat update next week.
According to reports, the new Android 7.0 Nougat for the mentioned handsets will be firstly released in the Chinese market with custom ZUI 2.5 UI on top of it, but later on will be released in Europe as well. There are rumors which say that the Z2 Plus, which is a re-branded version of ZUK Z2, which has been sold in India since September 2016, will also receive this software update by the end of the month or in early February 2017.
We should mention that the only Lenovo handset that runs on Android 7.0 Nougat is the ZUK Edge, but it seems that the company has finally decided that more of its handsets should receive the new OS.
The Android 7.0 Nougat comes with many new features and improvements such as: new animations, improved battery optimization, night mode, multi-window options, improved boot security, bundled notifications and more. If you own a Lenovo ZUK series handset, you can manually check for new updates by heading your device’s Settings->About Phone->System update.
Unfortunately, it’s not sure yet when the Android 7.1.1 Nougat will be released for ZUK Z2 and ZUK Z2 Pro, but this will most likely be the next step that Lenovo will do after its devices will run on Android 7.0 Nougat.
