It’s time for you to make yourself acquainted with the latest smartphone flagship devices in town. With a new year also comes a new war between manufacturers to see which one manages to produce the hottest handset. In this article we are looking at two recently announced devices. The two handsets in question are the Redmi Note 4X from Xiaomi and the Galaxy S8 from Samsung. While the latter might be better known due to the more popular manufacturer and also device series, the new Xiaomi unit should be taken seriously as Xiaomi is one of the most promising manufacturers around at the moment. Let’s see what both phones offer, at least from what we know so far (not all details have been disclosed yet).

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X

The new Xiaomi device has a 5.5 inch display that delivers HD pictures and a dual core processor clocked at 2 GHz. Furthermore, there is a MediaTek Helio X20 SoC graphics processor ensuring the GPU duties are taken care of. There will also be a 13 MP camera on the back of the handset, and somewhere on the same panel the phone will feature a fingerprint sensor. The 4000 mAh battery will provide the required energy for the handset to run and the user interface of choice will be Google’s Android 6.0 Marshamllow.

Samsung Galaxy S8

The highly anticipated follow up to the 2016 success device Galaxy S7 is finally on the horizon. The Galaxy S8 comes with a Snapdragon 830 processor, as well as an octa core Exynos 8895 chip in some regions. There are 8 GB of RAM available but so far there are no details regarding the internal storage featured on the handset. Additional rumors put a dual lens on the back of the S8 as well as 4K capabilities for its GPU.

While the details are scarce, it is still very early to make a definitive decision as to which phone is better. So far however, it looks very promising as we are starting 2017 strong in terms of announcements.
