Apparently, the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) will get Nougat soon, as it was benchmarked with an octa core Exynos 7580 processor clocked at 1.6GHz and it obtained a score of 636 in the single-core test and 3218 in the multi-core test. Another mid-range smartphone that is currently receiving Nougat is the Asus Zenfone 3.
The model number that appeared on the benchmarking site running on Android 7.0 Nougat is SM-A525F, which is a variant of the Galaxy A5 (2017). Unlike the known model that runs on an Exynos 7880 with 3GB of RAM, this phone appeared with an Exynos 7580 chipset and 2GB of RAM, and these specs match up with the 2016 variant. The rest of the specs include a 5.2-inch Full HD screen, 16GB of internal storage, a primary camera of 13MP with an f/1.9 aperture and OIS, a front facing camera of 5MP and a battery of 2900mAh. Also, there’s a fingerprint scanner hidden inside the home button. Samsung hasn’t made any statement about the release date of Nougat for this model, but most likely, the update will be available soon.
On the other hand, the owners of the Asus Zenfone 3 – versions ZE520KL or ZE552KL, have a reason to be happy, because their phones are now receiving Android 7.0 Nougat update. For now, the roll out is happening in the Philippines, but in the next days, Nougat will spread to more countries. Nougat brings multi-window support, battery life improvements, bundled notifications and Asus has made a few touches to the UI design. However, if you’re not impressed with the additions to the UI, you can use third-party custom launchers. The Zenfone 3 was released in August 2016 with a Qualcomm MSM8953 Snapdragon 625 chipset that’s powered by an octa-core 2.0 GHz Cortex-A53 processor backed by 3GB or 4GB of RAM, depending on the internal memory. The difference between the ZE520KL and ZE552KL is that the first variant has a smaller screen of 5.2-inch, while the latter is a phablet with a 5.5-inch screen.
