When Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 was first announced, fans were pretty stoked about it. The Kingdom Hearts collection was bound to have all the original content plus something extra to celebrate the title’s port to PS4, right? Not really. A closer look now reveals that Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5 is just a mash of the previously released games, with no additional PS4 content on the disc.

While some will just be happy to be able to play the game on their PS4 consoles, others might be heavily disappointed by this turn of events. An official statement has also been released.  The game’s director, Tetsuya Nomura, stated that Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 +2.5 is the PS4 equivalent of the two re-masters previously released. The whole point of this new HD bundle is to facilitate playing the game for people since we’re talking about a total of six installments after all. All of them on one disc is definitely easier to play that having multiple disc you would need to switch between. The game director clarified this during an interview with Dengeki Online.

Additionally to the release of Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 +2.5, Square Enix will also making Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 available for the PS4. The same games people are used to will now be available at a higher framerate, specifically 60 FPS. These should be able to keep fans entertained for a while, until more news about Kingdom Hearts 3 come out. The third full installment of the franchise is anticipated by a large following and there are great expectances from it, especially now with the disappointment of no additional content being prepared for the 1.5 +2.5 HD collection for the PS4. Until we get closer to the release date of Kingdom Hearts 3, we can revisit the previous titles in an HD setting.
