Samsung remains to be on the top rank in the world when it comes to Android smartphones but other players are not stopping to be at par, if not exceed the status of the South Korean consumer electronics leader. These are the Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime and the Sony Xperia XZ.
Design and Build
The Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime comes with a full-metal body with top and bottom plastic ends with metallic finish. It has a physical home button also serves as the fingerprint scanner and has capacitative buttons. This dual-SIM Android phone has separate slots for the SIM card and themicroSD card. It is one of the slimmest phones at 8mm grams.
Conversely, the Sony Xperia boasts of a redesigned, boxy, water-resistant and moisture-resistance body made of metal back and sides. Also, it has slightly rounded-off edges while the finger scanner is in the power button at the right-side of the handset.
Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime
The Galaxy J7 Prime runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 and is powered by an octa-core Exynos 7870 processor at 1.6GHz. Internal memory is 16 GB with is expandable, via a microSD card, up to 256GB while the RAM is a fast 3GB. As for display, the J7 Prime boasts of a 5.5-inch IPS LCD with Full HD at 1080×1920 resolution and 401 ppi pixel density. It is also covered with Corning Gorilla glass.
For camera specs, it comes with a 13-megapixel rear camera with an aperture of f/2.0, Auto Face Detection feature and an LED flash while for selfie shots, users can rely on the 8-megapixel front-camera. Moreover, this camera can capture full HD 1080p videos.
Connectivity options include WiFi, WiFi Direct, Bluetooth, hotspot, GPS with BDS or GLONASS, microsoftUSB v2.0 port with USB OTG, FM Radio support with dual-nano SIM card slots and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Its battery is a non-removable 3,300 mAh Li-po type with a long life of 14 hours.
Sony Xperia XZ
Since the Xperia XZ was released before the Android Nougat, it runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 just like the J7 Prime and is powered by a Snapdragon 820 CPU with was originally with a quad-core CPU but was upgraded to Kyro-cores. These cores are clocked differently, with two at 2.15GHz and the other two at 1.6GHz. It also has a 32GB of internal storage as well as a 3GB of DDR4 RAM. Display is smaller than J7 Prime at 5.2 inches with an LCD 1080p screen and covered with 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla glass. Despite its size, the LCD is great with contrasts and in viewing from different angles.
The camera is brand new with a 23-megapixel sensor at the back with 24mm f/2 lens and LED flash while the front camera is at 13 megapixels and a camera system with laser focus. Its battery is the 2,900mAh type but it can last for 14 hours. For audio, it comes with two speakers.
