In the midst of internet security hacker Luca Todesco’s yaku iOS 10 jalibreak tool’s instability, iPhone users who wait for the latest jailbreak tools just might receive a late Christmas present, an iOS 10.2 jailbreak.
It can be remembered that the past months have been disappointing and long since the new jailbreak update for iOS 10 has not yet been released. But lo and behold, Todesco did deliver. He presented a beta 4 version of the jailbreak tool. However, there are also issues that came with it, in terms of not being stable and the warning of Luca that it came with Substrate and that it was really designed for developers. Also, it was semi-untethered which means that for every rebooting of the device, it should be re-jailbreak.
Another known security researcher, German Stefan Esser, also known as i0n1c has tweeted that an iOS 10.2 jailbreak tool is in the works and it might be released sooner than expected. Since Apple has stopped signing iOS 10.1.1, upgrading and downgrading to the version is not possible anymore, especially for those who upgraded to the latest iOS version and bypassing the previous one.
Critics, on the other hand, are not buying the statements of Esser, saying that he might just be teasing. As of press time, there is no confirmation yet but speculations suggest that Esser might just be stirring the minds of spectators given the issues surrounding the jailbreak tool from Todesco, such as its not being compatible with older versions of iPhone, like iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
If there is indeed an iOS 10.2 jailbreak tool underway, it’s quite interesting to know that two jailbreak tools of different versions will be available and be released by separate teams within a year. Meanwhile, an iOS 10 jailbreak tool from Pangu was expected this month but the team has yet to release one.
