The unlocked version of the HTC 10 flagship has been update to Android 7 Nougat almost a month ago, and HTC couldn’t end the year without offering the owners of this device a small gift consisting of a new update that carries the number 2.38.617.6. The update started rolling out on December 22, in the US.

The new update that was released for the HTC 10 weighs in at 609.58 MB and it’s pretty substantial, as it contains a “security update by Google”, which is the December security patch. HTC hasn’t provided a change-log for this update, but users will notice changes once they’ll download and install this update that comes over the air.

If you won’t receive the notification tomorrow or the next days, you will be able to manually check for the update by heading to your phone’s Settings > About > Software updates > Check now. Owners of the HTC 10 stuck in a cellular contract with carriers around the world will need to wait until early 2017 to get Android Nougat.

In addition to the new features introduced in Nougat, such as multi-window support or Doze on the Go, the firmware also includes HTC features, such as the BlinkFeed-equipped launcher or the manufacturer’s messaging and dialer apps, as well as under the hood optimizations.

The flagship arrived in May with a small design change – chamfered edges. The new dimensions of the phone are 145.9 x 71.9 x 9 mm, resulting in a total weight of 161grams, and the screen has been increased from 5-inch to 5.2-inch and the resolution was upgraded to 1440 x 2560 pixels.

Under the hood, the device houses a Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 820 chipset that’s powered by a quad-core (2×2.15 GHz Kryo & 2×1.6 GHz Kryo) processor and 4GB of RAM.

HTC offers two variants of internal memories of 32GB and 64GB, but they’re expandable with a microSD card, and when it comes to the cameras, the primary one supports 12MP and its features include OIS, laser autofocus, and dual-LED (dual tone) flash, wile the secondary camera is 5MP. The battery has also received a capacity increase from 2840mAh to 3000mAh.
