Resident Evil is one of the longest running video game franchises out there. There number of fans it racked up over the years is quite impressive, and with the developer taking players on a rollercoaster ride in terms of game quality every time a new iteration was presented, the feat is even more praise-worthy.
Resident Evil 7 is the latest installment in the series and fans couldn’t be more thrilled about its announcement. The actual game is scheduled for a release somewhere around the 24th of January 2017.
So close and yet so far still, fans were calmed down by the release of a demo for the game, which lets them get a taste of what expects them come January 24th. The demo even bares a name, being called Beginning Hour. The demo serves its purpose and delivers the initial flavor for eager players as the developer intended.
However, the demo fulfilled a different role as well. Thanks to tireless data miners, we were able to learn that the game files contain a name oldschool Resident Evil fans will be able to resonate with. Are you ready? Albert Wesker. Yep, the Resident Evil bad guy of old is likely to make a return during Resident Evil 7, albeit it is not yet known under what form or circumstances. That makes the upcoming title that more exciting and the wait that more painful.
There are no accurate details regarding the meaning of these findings, as we only have speculations to base our theories on for the time being. Another name has been flying around, specifically Eveline Wesker. This character is thought to be related to the former Wesker in some way and could see face time in Resident 7.
It is still unkown whether she will completely replace Albert Wesker or create a duo with him as far as the story goes. Time will tell, as January rapidly approaches.
