Huawei has gained a lot of popularity after building the Nexus 6P for Google, but it continued to do a good job with its own devices and two of them have already received the latest Android 7.0 Nougat. After the Huawei P9 and Mate 8, the Honor 8 will get the same treatment, but in February.

The Huawei Honor 8 was released in July with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box and Emotion UI 4.1 on top of it. When the device will be updated to Android 7.0 Nougat in February 2017, Huawei will release the new EMUI 5.0 version, which will come with machine learning feature that will prioritize frequently used apps in order to optimize processing resources.

With EMUI 5.0, the device will run different user profiles, allowing users to easily switch between work profile and more personal profile.

EMUI 5.0 is also expected to bring improvements for security, as well as a new feature called “App Lock” that will make specific applications more secure. Lastly, there will be several new power saving modes that will extend the Honor 8’s battery life. And it’s good enough that the battery has a capacity of 3000mAh, which handles a 5.2-inch Full HD display, and a HiSilicon Kirin 950 chipset that’s powered by an octa-core (4×2.3 GHz Cortex-A72 & 4×1.8 GHz Cortex A53) processor with 4GB of RAM.

Other specs of the Honor 8 include two variants of internal memories of 32GB and 64GB, which support expansion using a microSD card, a dual 12 MP rear camera with laser autofocus and dual-LED (dual tone) flash, and a front camera of 8MP.

When we’ll find more information about other Huawei devices that will get Android 7.0 Nougat in 2017, we will let you know! Unfortunately, we don’t have an exact release date when the update will arrive for the Honor 8.
