Pokemon Sun and Moon are two different video games. Announced in February 2016, the games were officially released to the public in November. They constitute the first games in the seventh generation of Pokemon games. Although they are different games, they mostly feature a similar plot.

Also, trading between the two games is allowed. While the game shares some similarities, they also have several differences.

Time Setting

Pokemon Sun and Moon are 12 hours apart from each other. The game runs in real time when playing Pokemon Sun with the time based on the user’s 3DS clock. When playing Pokemon Moon, the game moves 12 hours from the time on the user’s 3DS clock.

Why is there an emphasis on time here? The answer is simple: there are Pokemon that only appear on certain times of the day. In short, some Pokemon appear during the day, the others at night.

Totem Pokemon Differences

The Totem Pokemon changes depending on the version being played. In short, the Pokemon encountered at a specific location in Pokemon Sun won’t be the same when playing Pokemon Moon.

Pokemon Sun and Moon received positive reviews from critics when it was released. More than 10 million units were sold within the week it was released therefore making it one of the fastest selling games in the history of Nintendo.

The main concept of the games is to catch Pokemon. They can be elusive but there are tricks to catching them all.
