WhatsApp will soon stop functioning on a good amount of older handsets and operating systems. We remind you that this has been confirmed by the company a few months ago, when it has announced that its application will stop working on older smartphones and operating systems. However, it seems that the announcement has been updated and it seems that some smartphones will still be supported until June 30, 2017.
Below we will give you a list of devices that soon enough will not be able to use the WhatsApp application anymore.
According to reports, the WhatsApp application will stop working on the iPhone 3GS at the end of 2016. At the same time, the application will not function on smartphones that run on iOS 6 or earlier.
WhatsApp will not work anymore to any Android smartphone that runs on Android 2.1 or Android 2.1 (or earlier). This will affect smartphones that have been released between 2010 and 2011 and have not been updated until now.
If you own a device that runs on Windows Phone 7, we suggest you to update it right away, or else the WhatsApp application will not work anymore on it.
BlackBerry and Nokia Devices
These following smartphones will still be able to use the WhatsApp application until June 2017: BlackBerry 10, BlackBerry OS, Nokia S40 and Nokia Symbian S60.
As you can see, there are a big amount of devices that will be affected by this change. However, the developer has mentioned that it had to make these changes in order to keep improving its application with new features and options. It seems that WhatsApp will receive a good amount of changes in 2017 and we’re pretty sure that most of them will be quite impressive.
Will you change a smartphone just because the WhatsApp application will stop working on it?
