The latest Nougat update is highly expected by all Android fans and we finally found out which is the next Android device to receive the Android 7.1.1 update and more importantly the official release date. The latest Android update will be launched on December 5th according to Vodafone Australia and Google has yet to confirm this information but we believe that a big company such as Vodafone is trust worthy.

The only devices to run on the latest 7.1.1 Nougat update are Google’s own Pixel and Pixel XL flagships, but it seems that another Google device will be added to the list. Vodafone Australia confirmed that the Nexus 6P is the next Android powered device to receive the update.

Taking in consideration that Australia is 18 hours ahead of the world, the update will be rolled out on December 5th for most countries.

Because there are millions of Nexus 6P devices, during the first three days Google will randomly select ten thousand devices and send out the update. The update is around 650MB and will be sent OTA (over the air), so Nexus 6P owners need to pay attention to their notifications.

The latest Android version is highly anticipated mostly because it will make the devices compatible with Google’s DayDream and this means that users will be able to download virtual reality media content and games.

Google also installed a new set of tools in the update that allows app developers to create rounder icons for their app, similar to the iOS ones.

Owners of Android devices that are not manufactured by Google will still have to wait a bit more before the 7.1.1 is rolled out for their mobile devices. Tech experts are estimating that Google will release the full Android update for more devices during the first quarter of 2017.
