Some people might have been waiting on news regarding a potential Fallout 5, but it seems like Bethesda has other plans for the Fallout series and in particular for Fallout 5. Although the community already demands a sequel to the highly acclaimed Fallout 4, Bethesda isn’t quite done with it.
Currently, the company is working on an adaptation of Fallout 4, namely Fallout 4 VR. And yes, it’s exactly what you think it is. The virtual reality craze has made room for a cool opportunity at Bethesda, as they can now offer the means for players to immerse themselves completely in the Fallout world and be part of it.
The VR project for Fallout has been revealed for a while now, but fans shouldn’t expect it to drop right away. Bethesda officials have confirmed that it is the developer’s wish to make the Fallout 4 VR experience a “whole”, meaning that they intend on including the entirety of Fallout 4’s content in the mix.
Anyone that has played Fallout 4 can confirm that he fame is absolutely huge, with so many places to go. And that’s all when controlling the character with your computer peripherals or console controller. You can imagine how much bigger it can become once you have to travel all that distance on foot.
Luckily, the teleportation system which was available in the classic experience will also be available in the VR version, as Bethesda confirms. The teleportation system allows players to instantly teleport between two checkpoints or settlements, just for that specific reason.
While current video games using VR are mostly just gimmicky short interactive games meant to present the technology’s capabilities, Fallout 4 VR will be Bethesda’s opportunity to completely smash the VR market, and also pioneer the way in VR from this perspective, as it will be the first VR which throws players in a huge world to explore.
