Microsoft’s priority is to bring the Windows 10 Creators Update, which is set to arrive in early 2017, and the latest Build 14971 released for users in the Fast Ring has removed Command Prompt and introduced Paint 3D. The company has used Microsoft Design Language 2 (MDL2) to change the look of Windows 10, but it seems that a new design language will make its debut in Redstone 3 and we’ll tell you more about it below.

According to Windows Central, Windows 10 Redstone 3 will be shipped with a new design language that is codenamed Project NEON, which has been in development for over a year. This information hasn’t been confirmed yet by Microsoft, but if rumors will prove to be true, then this upcoming design language will offer PC, Mobile and HoloLens users a better experience, as it will come with an interface that will feature smooth motions and transitions.

It seems that there are some inconsistencies on many Windows 10 applications, so Project NEON will fix them. In addition, developers will be provided with “clear and consistent guidelines when designing their apps”, but there’s no information regarding this yet.

However, hits suggest that Windows 10 Redstone 3 will focus on unifying the operating system across all devices, and Microsoft will encounter many obstacles to make it work perfectly, especially because the HoloLens headset is completely different than a PC or mobile device, as it allows users to interact with the real world in a new way.

After the launch of Windows 10 Creators Update, Microsoft will most likely start releasing builds of Windows 10 Redstone 3 n May/June 2017, so they will get the first glimpse of Project NEON. It wouldn’t be a surprise if the second major update of Windows 10 will contain some NEON elements, but if you’re a developer and you’ll wait patiently until 2018, you’ll be able to implement Project Neon in your own applications.
