Less than a month ago, Telltale Games announced that the Story Mode: Episode 1 of Minecraft will be free for Xbox 360 and PS3 users in North America. This game is a partnership between the company and game developer, Mojang. The now free The Order of the Stone episode has also affected the prices of the Adventure Pass (Episodes 6-8) and the Season Passes (Episodes 1-5 and Episodes 1-8).
In Episode 1, the player gets to choose between a male or female version of the character of “Jesse”. Here, the player will have to travel across the Overworld, passing through the Nether, the End and beyond with other companions and meet the Slayers of the Ender Dragon which include the Warrior, Redstone Engineer, Griefer and Architect.
As the hero, you are expected to save the world. In order to do this, you will go on a quest to find “The Order of the Stone”. Moreover, you get to build your own story since your decisions will affect the direction the story goes. What you say to the people and how you communicate with them also have an impact on the plot.
This narrative game was first launched in 2009 and became popular among the kids since it is similar to a Lego where players can build towns and whatever they want with the use of pixelated cubes. This game also taps on the creativity of the players and make them more imaginative which makes it more interesting to play.
In 2014, Microsoft acquired Mojang for $2.5 billion dollars and since the time of the first release, more than 100 million copies have been sold and the number still increases with around 53,000 copies per day sold. As of today, the game is available in multi-platforms, including PS4, PC and Xbox One, among others. It is also available in smartphones, which is said to be the most popular platform.
As for updates of the game, Microsoft was able to add more to the combat mechanics of the game. Players can now engage in duels using shields and swords and the Mojang team says that in the future, their goal is to let players play together from different device platforms.
Meanwhile, the Minecraft Pocket Edition is getting The Ender Dragon update.
