What smartphone device is better – Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime or the J7 2016?  There’s no doubt that the decision to make on which one to buy is difficult. After all, they’re both great models in their own right. And, the decision to purchase one or the other will depend on what your matter of preference and style is.

Display

When it comes to Samsung superiority, many folks look at the display quality. Many would consider the J7 2016’s super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen better than the IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen seen on the J7 Prime. Is that really the case though?

Both phones have a 5.5-inch screen size with a nearly same screen-to-body ratio. The J7 Prime has a 1080p resolution whereas the J7 2016 has just a 720p. But, the J7 2016 also sports a 401ppi pixel density compared to only 267ppi for the other model.

The J7 also comes with the Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection screen – a hard material that keeps the screen protected.

Platform

Most people are concerned more about the operating system, looking for the latest Android version from the device or the ability to upgrade later on if available.  Samsung is always using the latest firmware version, with most devices already installed with the Android Marshmallow 6.0.1.

The J7 Prime’s CPU is the octa-core 1.6GHz Cortex-A53; the J7 2016 comes with the octa-core model but is a combination of four cores for the 1.0GHz Cortex-A53 and four cores for the 1.6GHz Cortex-A53.

Camera

Another key feature people tend to look at when buying their next phone is the camera. If the camera isn’t any good, people are going to skip over it. Samsung knows this. The company’s older phones are still worthwhile because of the camera aspect.

Both the J7 2016 and J7 Prime have a 13MP back camera. Their front camera is what separates them. The J7 Prime is 8MP; the J7 2016 is just 5MP.

Other Noteworthy Features To Consider

Both phones smart the sensor feature, but it’s the J7 Prime that takes the win on this one. How so? It can read fingerprints, which gives the phone some additional security. Both devices have a non-removable 3300mAh battery.
