Surface Book vs. MacBook ProMicrosoft and Apple are two top companies that develop mobile and desktop devices. Today we will talk about Microsoft’s Surface Book and Apple’s MacBook Pro.

Microsoft claims that the Surface Book is the “ultimate laptop” that comes with a very powerful processor, an awesome display and the Surface Pen stylus that you can use for sketching or for writing notes. On the other hand, Apple has redesigned its MacBook Pro and it is now as light and thin as the MacBook Air, but it comes with a much more powerful processor and a high-resolution Retina display. MacBook Pro also comes with a new Touch Bar that replaces the “old” physical function keys with a row of digital keys that will change depending on the application you are using.

Operating System

 The Surface Book is running on Windows 10 OS, which is the latest operating system that Microsoft has released and it brings a bunch of new features and options. MacBook Pro comes with macOS Sierra, which is the latest operating system that Apple has released for Macs. If you are using Apple services such as iMessage, Siri, iCloud, then you will surely love the new macOS, as you will be able to seamlessly tie all your Apple devices together.

Processor, Graphics Cards & RAM

The Surface Book comes in many variants of configurations, but it is good to know that the basic model comes with an Intel i5 CPU, while the high-end has with an Intel Core i7 CPU. The mentioned processors are backed by 8GB up to 126GB of RAM. The high-end Surface Book comes with a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 965M with 2GB of GDDR5 memory that will make sure that you can run a good amount of games without any problems.

At the same time, the MacBook Pro comes with several processor variants. The base MacBook Pro 13-inch model has a dual Intel Core i5 CPU clocked at 2.9GHz, while the high-end model is powered by an Intel Core i7 CPU clocked at 3.3GHz. The MacBook Pro 15-inch base model features an Intel Core i7 CPU clocked at 2.6GHz, while the high-end model has a powerful dual-core Intel Core i7 clocked at 3.3GHz.

Also, the 13-inch model comes with 8GB of RAM, but you can upgrade it to 16GB, while the 15-inch model supports 16GB of RAM. The Intel Iris Graphics 550 card with 2GB of RAM is found on the MacBook Pro 13-inch, while the MacBook Pro 15-inch has a more powerful Radeon Pro 460 with 4GB of RAM.


 The basic model of the Surface Book costs $1499 and comes with a detachable screen and the Surface Pen stylus. The Surface Book variant with dedicated graphics costs $1899, while the high-end variant of the device laptop costs $2400. The price of the MacBook Pro 13-inch model starts at $1799, while the 15-inch model costs $1999.
