With Grand Theft Auto 5, Rockstar seems to have ditched the single player DLC philosophy that was actively present during the previous installment of the game, with GTA 4 sporting 2 flashy DLC packs for the single player story mode. Characters from the GTA 4 DLC even made an appearance in GTA 5, but that seemed to be the extent of Rockstar’s plans for post-GTA 4 DLC packs.

It was even rumored that the developer was working on a single player DLC for Grand Theft Auto 5, but ended up scrapping the project so that the team could use the proposed content for their GTA Online initiative. That might be exactly what happened, as we’ve seen a considerable amount of time and resources put into GTA Online, which appears to be the main focus of the GTA team over at Rockstar at the moment.

That being said, not all hope is lost for the single player content. With GTA 6 rumored to not make an appearance until 2020 at the very least, fans are eager to experience more GTA narrative, and they might just get their wish. A user on the GTA forums, which is known for his correct predictions in the past, such as the Bikers DLC for GTA Online, has come with an update specifying that the people running the show at Rockstar are seriously thinking about resurrecting the SP DLC. The same user went on to say that the project was about 70% done when RS pulled the plug, so actually finishing the job no longer requires the bulk of the work.

While rumors keep flying, GTA fans eagerly await more news about the future of the Grand Theft Auto series and what they can expect to see next.
