Android 7.0 Nougat has been in BETA for more than 5 months, but Google has managed to officially release it at the end of August 2016. The update is already rolling out to Google’s Nexus 5X, Nexus 6, Nexus 6P, Nexus Player and Pixel C devices.
Now, there are many users who own devices that run on Android OS and wonder when this update will be released for them. It is good to know that a good amount of handsets have enrolled in the Android BETA Program, such as the Sony Xperia Z3, and the update should be officially released for them in the near future.
Android 7.1 Nougat Developer Preview Released On Nexus Devices
In the meantime, Google has already released the developer preview of the Android 7.1 Nougat for some Nexus handsets. Google claims that it is still working on the model that they’ve used in the Android N and earlier releases, and that the users will notice a few changes once the Android 7.1 will be available for their devices.
It is good to know that the Android 7.1 Nougat has already been released for the Google Pixel, but now the initial Developer Preview is available for Nexus handsets. The company claims that it is doing these tests is because they want to make sure that all major problems are fixed before the new operating system is released to the public.
Android 7.0 and Android 7.1: When It Will Be Released For Your Device?
If you own a device that has not been released by Google, then you will need to wait a bit longer for the new operating system. However, if your device is a popular one, such as the new Galaxy S7/S7 Edge, then there are high chances that this new operating system will be released before the end of 2016.
We believe that all handsets that are able to run the Android 7.0 Nougat OS will receive the update sometime later in 2016 or early in 2017.
