It has been officially announced that as of 11:59 PM on December 31th, 2016 WhatsApp support for iOS 6 users and also other older versions of iOS is going to end. The reason behind that is that that iOS 6 is not compatible with all the updates WhatsApp is releasing, and there isn’t any reason for WhatsApp to continue support for those versions.
What does that actually mean?
The only problem that iOS 6 users are going to encounter is that they are not going to be able to upgrade to the newer versions of WhatsApp. The app will still be functional, it just won’t receive any updates anymore.
That being said we have a compiled a list with all the operating system that are not going to receive WhatsApp support anymore, and they are the Nokia S40, Nokia Symbian S60, iPhone 3GS/iOS6, Windows Phone 7.1 and BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10.
If you own a device that runs on one of those operating systems you might have to upgrade your operating system or your device to be able to chat using WhatsApp.
WhatsApp managed to have 1 billion monthly active users at one point, and that made the app a real threat to Facebook, making it acquire the app for reportedly $19.3 billion. The app managed to reach such a massive active user base because it’s available on all platforms, from iOS to Android powered devices. The app allows its users to call and chat among themselves without using internet connection, and not credit.
One of the most important features WhatsApp presents is the fact that the user can use the app to transfer files such as GIF images, PDF files, Documents, Video and so much more. This is why the app has become a necessity in everyone’s life.
