Google has finally released the much anticipated Android 7.0 Nougat. Thus, smartphone owners are excited to experience the new features that come with it. However, it is important to determine if your smartphone is capable of updating to the official Android update or not.

Based from the list of Android devices that Samsung has planned to include, the most recent devices are expected to get the update. This list includes the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, Galaxy S7 Edge, Galaxy S7, S6 Edge Plus, S6 Edge, S6, and the Samsung Note 5. The testing for other devices is still ongoing and the official update will soon be released in the first quarter of 2017.

The said update will not be available, however, for the Samsung Galaxy S5. In fact, Samsung has not included it in the conversation as to whether they are going to introduce the update to its Galaxy S5 in the future. Thus, it may seem that the Galaxy S5 may have to get used to the Android 6.0 Marshmallow instead.

The update for Android 7.0 Nougat should be available for Samsung Note 5 and Samsung S6 users at the first quarter of 2017. This will likely be released together with the S7 Edge and S7.  Meanwhile, it will be available for all variations of the Galaxy S6.

It was once planned by Samsung to roll out the update for the Galaxy Note 7. However, plans have been in vain as a result of certain hardware issues for the device. Thus, the company has prioritized the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. Nevertheless, updates for the Note 5 and Galaxy S6 are also included for that matter. Hence, these smartphones or their variations will get their hands on the latest Android firmware update.
