Android 7 Nougat has been officially rolling out since August and in fact, Google has already started shipping it aboard its new Pixel phones. But the question is, when will it be available for your Android phone? If you are a Motorola user, you too probably has the same question.

Several months ago, the company confirmed that Moto smartphones are going to get the Nougat update in the fourth quarter of the year. True to its words, Motorola has already rolled out the latest Android version for its phones. The Moto G4 and the Moto G4 Plus are actually the first non-Nexus devices that got the Nougat. This was confirmed by Lenovo on its Indian customer service portal last month.

What’s New?

So, with the Android 7 Nougat now in Motorola G4 and G4 Plus, what can we expect from these updated devices? Here’s some cool Nougat features that you’ll surely enjoy:

Direct reply notification – Yes, touching the notification will allow you to directly reply to any message. There’s no need to open the messaging app. You can reply right away through the notification.

Multi-window support – Your device can now display more than one app at the same time. On a smartphone or tablet, you can run two apps side-by-side or one-above-the-other in split-screen mode. For instance, Google Map on left and Facebook on the right. On TV, you can continue video playback while using another app.

Bundled notifications – In other words, a single summary for all notifications but with the ability to expand the group to act on individual notification.

Night mode – Opening your phone in the middle of the night can hurt the eyes, but thanks to Nougat’s Night Mode feature, you can now cut out the amount of blue light from your screens. This will make it easier for your eyes to adjust when checking your Moto device in the dark.

Battery saver Android Masrshmallow allows users to enjoy great battery saving through its Doze feature. You’ll be glad to know that the Nougat uses the same battery-extending feature too, in addition to its night mode feature. Testing on Nexus 6P shows that it can deliver up to 20% battery saving.

Security enhancement – The Nougat will significantly improve your Motorola phone’s security through its file-based encryption feature. The F-File level encryption will isolate and protect files for individual users on your device.
