It seems that sharing Live Photos, short videos and GIFs is now possible on WhatsApp if you own a device that runs on iOS. According to reports, the GIF support for WhatsApp is also coming to Android OS also, but it is not yet known when exactly this will happen.
The WhatsApp application for iPhone comes with a new GIF search engine. In addition, you can also send a six-second video and Live Photos as GIF animations, but this feature requires you to own an iPhone 6s or iPhone 7, as 3D Touch is used to turn a Live Photo into an animated GIF. Also, you can customize the GIF files by adding both emoji and text, but you can also trim clips as you wish. iPhone users can also save their favorite GIF clips for quick access.
So, if you have installed the WhatsApp application on your iPhone, you should use the GIF-sharing feature right away, but make sure that you run the latest version of the application or else it will not work.
To access the GIF menu, you will need to tap on the “+” sign that’s located at the bottom left corner, select “Photo & Video Library” and finally tap on the “GIF Search” option that will appear also at the bottom left corner. After that, you will be able to search for desired GIFs and share them with your WhatsApp friends or even save the favorite ones so you can annoy your friends from time to time with the same GIF over and over again.
