Among the many game rumors circulating lately, one has been that the console versions of Fallout 4 might receive a patch to improve its frame rate. Unfortunately, this rumor is false.
One fan recently asked Bethesda’s Pete Hines on Twitter if they could release a patch to bring the frame rate to 60 fps, and his response was simple: “there is no patch coming to do that.”
However, we know from Bethesda’s previous announcement about Fallout 4 and Skyrim Special Edition that Fallout 4 will be enhanced for the PS4 Pro. In the announcement, they said that they “expect Fallout 4 to take advantage of the PS4 Pro in 4k along with enhanced lighting and graphics features.”
The announcement never mentioned the frame rate, but many fans thought Fallout 4 might still have an improved frame rate on the PS4 Pro. However, the answer given by Hines doesn’t necessarily disprove that. He might have been talking specifically about the current PS4 model, and Fallout 4 will be patched for the PS4 Pro version specifically, with frame rate improvements included.
At this point, it’s too early to say for sure. All we know is that a frame rate patch shouldn’t be anticipated any time soon.
