On October 7, 2016, Mafia 3 came out. As the third games in the Mafia series, fans had high hopes for it. After its release, the game has generally received mixed reviews, with some aspects highly praised while others are criticized, but that shouldn’t be taken to mean it hasn’t done well.
In fact, it’s done excellently. At the start of November, 2K Games revealed that Mafia 3 had shipped over 4.5 million copies in the game’s first week. Not only is that impressive for the series, it’s impressive for any of 2K’s franchises. It is the fastest-selling game in the company’s history and is already well on its way toward being one of its best-selling games of all time.
Of course, this refers to copies shipped to retailers, not necessarily copies sold through to customers. Nevertheless, it’s an impressive report.
Although Mafia 3 is out, more content for it will be forthcoming. Three expansions are planned for the game.
