The Lumia 640 XL was the remaining smartphone that was going to receive the Windows 10 Mobile Anniversary Update and AT&T has finally taken care of the problem. The low-end device was released in April 2015 with Windows Phone 8.1 and Lumia Denim, and AT&T is now delivering the new update to its US subscribers.

The Windows 10 Mobile Anniversary update arrived in August, coming a bit later than the update for PCs and the list of compatible devices included: BLU Win HD LTE, BLU Win HD w510u, Lumia 430, 435, 532, 535, 540, 635 (1GB RAM), 636 (1GB RAM), 638 (1GB RAM), 640, 640 XL, 730, 735, 830, 930, 1520 and MCJ Madosma. AT&T has many subscribers in the US who own a Lumia 60 XL and the carrier kept them waiting for the Windows 10 Mobile Anniversary update for too long and now it’s finally ready to deliver version 10.0.14393.321 to users. Many of them already reported on Reddit that they’ve received the update and even an AT&T representative has confirmed at the AT&T Forums the roll out of the Windows 10 Mobile Anniversary update.

Microsoft has brought many improvements to the new update, and we’ll mention some of the new features and changes:

– Cortana is able to sync across devices and it’s allowed to search in users’ Office 365 account;
– Cortana will show new notifications in the Action Center;
– Microsoft has replaced the back-button on the lock screen with a camera button;
– Live tiles update badges and content at the same time;
– The default wallpaper for a new device has been changed
– Notification icons have a smaller size;
– Microsoft Edge has peen updated to version 38.14393;
– There are new panels, settings and options in Settings etc

As for the Lumia 640 XL, it’s a phablet with a 5.7-inch IPS LCD HD screen, which is fueled by a Qualcomm MSM8226 Snapdragon 400 quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A7 processor that’s backed by an Adreno 305 GPU and 1GB of RAM and it has an internal memory of only 8GB, but it supports expansion with a microSD card. While the internal configuration isn’t that impressive, both cameras perform well. The primary one has Carl Zeiss optics and a resolution of 13MP, while the secondary camera is 5MP. The battery is removable and has a capacity of 3000mAh.
