Sony is not known for bringing updates as soon as they come available to their users, but they are known for always bringing stable and bug free updates. A while ago Sony opened a beta version for their devices, named Xperia Beta Program, that allowed users to test out the new and upcoming user interface which is now available for new Xperia devices. Sony has started using the Xperia Beta Program again, but the intended purpose is to test out Android 7.0 Nougat OS.

Owners of Sony devices that have signed up for the Xperia Beta Program reported that they have received emails letting them know the beta testing process has started.

The closest to a flagship smartphone Sony has is the Xperia X Performance. The smartphone comes with a Snapdragon 820 and a Sony exclusive 23MP camera, made by Sony themselves. Android 7.0 Nougat OS will come firstly to Xperia X Performance in the coming days, and this clearly means that older versions of Xperia devices will also receive the new software update, devices such as Xperia XZ and Xperia X Compact.

The new Android 7.0 Nougat OS update won’t probably have too many extras for Sony device owners, but it will have all of the new features Android 7.0 Nougat brings to smartphone devices, and this is why fans are still waiting for the update to come to their devices.

With the installation of Android 7.0 Nougat OS, features brought by the software update are going to be much more noticeable on Sony smartphones, since Sony have stopped from rolling quality of life updates to their device for some while.

Worth mentioning is that not only Sony owners are going to have to wait a bit more for their OS updates, but also owners of HTC, Samsung and LG smartphones are awaiting for the OS to come to them.
