With the release of the latest operating system from android dubbed Android Nougat (7.0), the android handset manufacturers have gone into making their phones ready to run the new iteration of the operating system. With most firms either releasing new phones or simply supporting older handsets, the list of phones to run the new operating system is quite impressive.

Below is a list of the manufacturers who have gone into supporting Android 7.0 Nougat.


As one of the leading manufactures of phones, Samsung released the list of the phones capable of running the new Android 7.0 Nougat operating system. They include, Samsung Galaxy S7, Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, Samsung Note 7, Samsung Galaxy Note 5, Samsung Galaxy S6, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus and the Samsung Galaxy Note 7.


On the list of the Samsung phones one can expect to run Android 7.0 Nougat but have not been confirmed yet are Samsung Galaxy J7, Samsung Galaxy J5, Samsung Galaxy On7, Samsung Galaxy On5, Samsung Galaxy A9, Samsung Galaxy A7 and Samsung Galaxy A5. Although Samsung has its own additions to the stock android experience, they offer among the best smartphones on the market. For such vendors like Samsung, the best experience would be getting a new phone that runs the android operating system from scratch.


The latest phones from OnePlus, namely the OnePlus 2, OnePlus 2, OnePlus X smartphones are also in line for the new updates although the vendor says that the update will be available in the early months of 2017.

OnePlus phones as pure an android operating system as possible and only add a few tweaks to improve the user experience. Owing to this aspect, more OnePlus phones support newer versions of the operating system compared to phones from other vendors.


The list of the phones from Sony that will support the new operating system include Sony Xperia X, Sony Xperia XZ, Sony Xperia X Performance, Sony Xperia Compact, Sony Xperia Z5, Sony Xperia Z5 Compact, Sony Xperia Z5 Premium, Sony Xperia Z3, Sony Xperia Z3+, Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet, Sony Xperia XA and Sony Xperia Ultra.


Among the Motorola phones to be supported include the Moto G (4th Gen), Moto G Plus (4th Gen), Moto G Play (4th Gen), Moto X Pure Edition (3rd Gen), Moto X Style, Moto X Play, Moto X Force, Moto Z, Moto Z Droid, Moto Z Force Droid, Moto Z Play, Moto Z Play Droid, Droid Maxx 2, and Droid Turbo 2.



In the last quarter of 2016, the phones from HTC to get the Android 7.0 Nougat include the HTC 10, HTC One M10, HTC One M9, HTC Nexus 9 and HTC One A9.

Another Asian firm known for the great quality of phones is LG whose lines of the phones to support Android 7.0 Nougat includes LG G5, LG G4, LG V20, LG Nexus 5X and LG V10.



The Google phones to come with Android 7.0 Nougat include Pixel and Pixel XL. The pure android experience on Google Pixel and Google Nexus phones cannot be rivaled by other vendors since the software runs as fast as it was intended to do. Although Google has not confirmed whether all the Nexus phones will run the new android operating system, many users expect that the older phones may run the android 7.0 Nougat operating system.


Android One

The budget Android One group of smartphones are also being prepped up to run the android 7.0 Nougat operating system. They include Cherry Mobile G1, Lava Pixel V1, Karbonn Sparkel V, Micromax Canvas A1, Spice Dream UNO, and the Infinix Hot 2.



Although Asus has not officially released the list of the phones which will run the new operating system, we ca still put together an accurate list of the phones which will run the new operating system owing to the system requirements from Google. They include the Asus Zenfone 3, Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe, Asus Zenfone 3 Ultra and the Asus Zenfone 2.

The phones from Xiaomi which have the system requirements needed to run Android 7.0 Nougat include the Xiaomi Mi 5, Xiaomi Mi ¾, Xiaomi Mi Note, Xiaomi Mi Max, and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3. Although they have not been confirmed to be running the new operating system but meet the minimum requirements for the operating system.



The new entrant into the smartphone fray is Lenovo whose phones that have the capabilities to run Android 7.0 Nougat include Lenovo Zuk Z2/pro, Lenovo Zuk Z1, Lenovo K4 Note, Lenovo K5 Note. Although the firm has not released a report stating which phones will run the operating system, the ones on this list are the best bet one can get.
