It was reported in the past that Motorola was among the quickest to receive Android OS updates.

However, that has changed since the arrival of the Android Nougat 7.0. Even though that was the case, the company has confirmed it will be updating a number of devices any time soon.

Among the devices that will receive the update, include the Moto G series, Moto X series, Moto Z series, Droid, and Nexus 6. Accordingly, the Moto G4 and Moto Z will be among the first to be updated within the fourth quarter of 2016. Although it may not be clear as to whether the Android 7.0 or 7.1 will be released, the company has already started testing on a number of Moto G4 users in Brazil.

Loyal subscribers of Motorola phones can now enjoy the Nougat update, as there are major updates released by Google every year. Previously, Android software was first released to the developers, which include a beta program for public preview. This will give them early access for the new version of Android.

For the moment, Android Nougat has been to Nexus devices. Beta versions of the Android Nougat 7.1 will be rolling out starting October 2016, while the final release will be as early as December. Good news for Motorola phone users, because Google has likewise confirmed the availability of the Nougat update for different device manufacturers.

To begin with, the first Motorola phones to receive the Android Nougat update will include the following:

  • Moto Z, Moto G Plus, and Moto G
  • Moto G Play, Moto X Pure Edition
  • Moto X Style, Moto X Play, Moto X Force
  • Droid Turbo 2, Droid Maxx 2, Moto Z Play
  • Moto Z Force Droid, Moto Z Play Droid and Moto Z Droid.

However, the Moto E3 Power as well as the Moto G (Gen 3) smartphones from last year will not be able to get the Nougat update.

The parent company of Motorola, which is Lenovo, however, didn’t release a timeline for the latest Android update. Likewise, it didn’t release a list of devices that will receive the update.
