Release of Android 7.0 Nougat update for OnePlus One is imminent, as the smartphone was spotted on Geekbench running on this mobile OS. This device was released in June 2014 with Android 4.4.2 KitKat, but a few months ago, it was upgraded to 6.0.1 Marshmallow and many have doubted that the OnePlus One will receive a new update in the near future.
The Chinese manufacturer hasn’t announced that Marshmallow will be the last OS update released for the OnePlus One, leaving room for interpretations. But, given the fact that Google usually provides updates to its Nexus devices for a duration of two years, not many believed that the OnePlus will get Android 7.0 Nougat because it’s over two years old.
However, it seems that the OEM has other plans, as it’s testing Nougat on the OnePlus One, because the device was recently spotted on Geekbench, and this suggests that the update will be released for this model that’s powered by a Qualcomm MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 quad-core 2.5 GHz Krait 400 processor, which supports 3GB of RAM. On Geekbench, in the single-core test, the phone scored 976, while the multi-core score was 2,521 and we are pretty sure that thanks to Nougat’s new feature, the OnePlus One will have an improved performance.
On the other hand, OnePlus is preparing to release a new flagship smartphone called OnePlus 3T, which will be powered by a Snapdragon 821 processor that will be backed by 6GB of RAM. This smartphone will sport the new Sony IMX398 sensor which will power the 16MP main camera which will be capable of capturing stellar images. The new 3T model will have a 3000mAh battery with Dash Charge support, a LCD panel and it will run on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. Most likely, its price will be around $480.
