It’s been nearly a month since Google released its Android 7.0 Nougat, and the firmware is slowly but surely being installed on new generation Nexus devices – Nexus 9, Nexus 5X and Nexus 6 sand Nexus 6P.
There have been reports that companies have been testing the Nougat platform on the device, creating changes to fit the Motorola and Samsung devices. Samsung has been testing it on their flagship phones – Samsung Galaxy S7 and the Edge. Motorola has been preparing their next generation devices to receive the upgrade.
Motorola is going to upgrade their phones on a per-batch basis with the first devices to receive it to be the Moto Z Force and Moto Z. The Moto X Force, Moto X Play and Moto X Style will then receive it. Then, the G series like G4 Plus and G4 and the G4 Play.
Finally, the OS is set for release on the E series – E3 Power, Moto E Gen and G 2015. Motorola stated the 2014-released devices would not receive the upgrade to Nougat.
While Motorola didn’t say when the update would occur, many tech analysts feel it’ll be sooner rather than later.
The Moto G4 Plus is also slated to receive the new firmware but with another upgrade Android 7.1 Nougat when it officially comes out.
