The latest version of Google Maps is a beta update and it brings a new addition to the web mapping service. Also, there are clues that the application will soon receive “top lists”, but for now, there is no information about this upcoming feature.
In September, Google has added new tabs and one of them was named “From Menu”, which displayed images of things, such as food, which can be found at a place – for example a restaurant, bistro or bakery. But this new beta update brings another new image-based tab called “By Owner” and it includes images taken with the location and submitted by the owner of the business. This way, people will be able to promote their businesses and attract customers who will be interested to try their services based on the images they will find in the “By Owner” tab.
In addition, the application has received a new set of strings that adds a new level of security, as users will have the possibility to make a phone number verification by simply filling in the digits and receiving a text message with the code, on their phones. However, there are many businesses that will receive the code through a call because they won’t be able to receive text messages on landline numbers, but this verification step will be very useful for users who will request a car from Uber, or if they will place a food order, directly from Google Maps.
We remind you that version 4.24 brought the option to order food from restaurants that can be found on the map, by tapping on the button that takes users to the website of the delivery service. Unfortunately, for now, not all locations are supported, but don’t worry, because soon, Place An Order option will appear in the details of your location.
