Have you been looking at the Samsung J7 and J7 Prime and wondered which one would be best for you? If you’re trying to decide which model is better for your use and pocketbook, you really have a decision to make. It’s important to note the distinction between them so that you make an informed decision.


Samsung devices are generally measured by toughness in display quality. The Galaxy J7 2016 has a super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen. The Galaxy J7 Prime has a IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen.

Both are 5.5. inches with a nearly identical screen-to-body ratio. The Galaxy J7 Prime, however, has a 1080p resolution whereas the J7 2016 is just 720p but with a higher 401ppi pixel density. The Prime model as 267ppi.

On top of that, the J7 Prime offers Corning Gorilla Glass 4, which is screen protection. Without the Super AMOLED display, it’s already got a hard glass material for screen protection.

Platform Features

Most people are concerned with a device’s operating system, which is why many of them go for the latest devices such as the newest Android software. Or, they go with a device that gives them the possibility.

When talking about the Samsung devices, as they nearly always use the latest firmware. And, both of their devices already have Android OS v 6.0.1.

The J7 Prime is CPU is octa-core 1.6GHz Cortex-A53 while J7 2016 has the octa-core but with four cores by 1.0GHz Cortex-A53 and 1.6GHz Cortex-A53.

Worthwhile Features

The J7 Prime’s sensors offer the device a huge advantage over the J7 2016. One thing it can do is read fingerprints, which provides the phone with some additional security. Both devices have the 3300mAh battery, which cannot be removed.

Camera Specs

Most people are also curious about the camera resolution. After all, if it doesn’t offer a good resolution, it won’t sell well at all. It’s why older Samsung devices tend to generate excitement.  Both phones have a 13MP resolution, but their front-facing camera is different. The J7 2016 has a 5MP rear-facing camera. The J7 Prime’s front facing camera is 8MP.
