It took a little more time than expected for Samsung to release the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to their smartphones. It seems like they are a little late on releasing the Android 7.0 Nougat update to their smartphones as well. In fact, it took five months for the Samsung Galaxy S6 to receive the Android 6.0 update after it was released by Google. Samsung has not even finished releasing the Android 6.0 update to all the S6 and S6 Edge smartphones until now. Therefore, people doubt what would happen to the Nougat update on Samsung Galaxy S7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.
Some official reports rolled out from Samsung saying that they are planning to deliver the Android 7.0 Nougat update to their latest smartphones a little early. Samsung Galaxy Note 7 was the first phone of the lineup to receive the Nougat update. Unfortunately, it would not happen because the Note 7 was discontinued due to the hardware faults. Therefore, we can expect that Samsung would give priority towards Samsung Galaxy S7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge to release the Nougat update.
It was also reported that some S7 devices are already running on the latest Android Nougat operating system on the official GFX Bench database. At the moment, the Nougat update is still in the testing process for Samsung smartphones. In fact, extensive testing is being conducted in Poland for releasing Android 7.0 to S7 and S7 Edge. However, it might take several months for them to complete the testing process. In fact, Samsung has paid special attention towards testing because of the issues that they had to face with Note 7. If such a thing happens to the S7 and S7 Edge handsets due to the rollout of Android 7.0 Nougat update, the company will have to go through a lot of hassle to establish its position in the market. Therefore, Samsung will not roll out the official Android 7.0 Nougat update to S7 and S7 Edge handsets until they are 100% done with testing. Therefore, it would take about two to three months for the Samsung users to experience the new features associated with Nougat update.
Samsung Galaxy S7 smartphone has several variations such as the Galaxy S7 Olympic Edition, Galaxy S7 Batman Edition, Galaxy S7 Active and Galaxy S7 Edge. All these smartphones would get the official Nougat update during the first quarter of 2017. Samsung is also looking forward to introduce the Android 7.0 update to few other devices. They include Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 Active, Galaxy S6 Edge Plus and Galaxy S6 Edge Ironman Edition. These phones would also get the Nougat update during the first quarter of 2017.
The latest Google Android operating system, Android 7.0 would deliver a variety of UX features. However, the Samsung smartphone users will have to wait for few more months in order to experience it.
