If you’re planning to buy any of Google’s new Pixel phones, it’s better to be prepared in advance, so you’ll know exactly how to enable certain features or where to locate them. So, before spending your money on the Google Pixel or Pixel XL, here are some tips and tricks you should know about, which will help you get started with your new phone.
Enable LED Notification Light
When you receive notifications, there is no LED blinking, although the blinker should appear above the screen, next to the earpiece. Google has disabled this feature by default on the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X, because of the preference for the Ambient Display, but users can enable “Pulse notification light” by going to Settings > Notifications and tapping on the “Gear” icon from the top right corner of the screen.
How To Check Remaining Battery Percentage
In the notification shade, users will find the battery percentage. System UI settings will appear after pulling down from the notification bar and holding down on the Settings icon. The battery percentage indicator will show up at the bottom of the Settings menu, alongside System UI settings.
Pixel Launcher Weather Widget
Users who want to know the current weather conditions and temperature can find this information above the date on the home screen. If the widget doesn’t appear, then Pixel Launcher must be updated.
Turn On Wi-Fi Calling
If you want to call someone via Wi-Fi, then enable this option by going to Settings > More.
Customize Google Assistant
This feature is exclusive to the new Pixels and it can be customized by swiping to the right from the home screen and tapping on the menu icon that’s found in the top right corner of the screen.
Enable Wi-Fi Assistant
By enabling this feature, users will automatically connect to secure open networks. To do that, they will head to Settings > Wi-Fi, where they will tap the “Gear” icon located in the top right corner. After toggling on “Use open Wi-Fi automatically”, the phone will show a key icon with the Google logo next to it, and it will automatically connect to open wireless networks and.
Nothing has changed in the meantime, so users can take screenshots by simultaneously pressing the power and volume down buttons.
