With help of Skype Room app, owners of a Surface Pro 4 tablet are able to hold meetings, make phone calls and share content in real time. The application is for business teams located in different parts of the world, who don’t want to let distance be a problem. The arrival of Skype Room app will increase the sales of third party companies that will offer docks (with multiple USB ports, HDMI ports and other ports) to place the Surface Pro 4 tablets into them. Crestron has already released a dock that costs $1,199, Logitech is expected to bring its product soon, while Polycom will launch its MSR series in the first quarter of 2017.
Microsoft has explained that “Skype Room Systems provides a complete Skype for Business meeting room experience that brings HD audio video experience to your meeting. Work like you’re in one place; quickly and easily join meetings, make phone calls, instantly share content in room and remotely, all from an elegant touch screen console device. Transform your meeting rooms and make any space a Skype meeting place.”
The list of features provided by Skype Room includes audio, video and web conferencing with up to 250 members, no matter if they’re using a smartphone, tablet, laptop, PC or meeting room. The application has also a calendar reminder and a meeting reminder, but there is also a Skype for Business client. With Skype Room, business partners will “Transform meeting spaces ranging from small huddle areas to large conference rooms with a rich, collaborative Skype for Business experience that is simple to use, deploy, and manage.”
