Ever since Note 7 owners started reporting that their devices caught fire, Samsung knew that these incidents will affect its reputation and even if the compromised phones were replaced with “safe” ones, the nightmare didn’t end, as more people were physically damaged after their Note 7 exploded out of nowhere. Samsung permanently ended production of the phablet and reports say that the company is preparing another compensation program for Galaxy Note 7 owners.

Until now, Samsung has allowed Note 7 owners to exchange their devices for another Galaxy model, or they were offered a refund. But this is not all, because according to a report from Korea, Samsung will have a new compensation program for those who already exchanged their Note 7 for a Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge. When the Galaxy S8 will be released, customers will now have any of the two flagships will be able to get the new model for free, or they will pay a nominal amount. “The new compensation program is designed to make it easier for those who exchange their Galaxy Note 7 with existing Samsung smartphones, to shift into our next model coming in next year,” said a Samsung official.

Samsung is already working on the Galaxy S8’s software and rumors claim that the upcoming handset will feature a dual-camera sensor, as well as many other upgrades, such as support for Daydream VR. The device is expected to come in two variants of screen sizes: the smaller will support a lower resolution, while the larger model will have a 4K display. According to GSMArena, there will be also two variants of chipsets: Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 and Exynos 8895 Octa, which will support 6GB of RAM. Fans will be able to choose one of the two variants of internal memories of 64GB and 128GB, and they will be able to add a microSD card and expand their capacities. The dual-camera setup will consist of two cameras with resolutions of 12MP, which will be accompanied by features such as phase detection autofocus, OIS and dual-LED (dual tone) flash. The front camera will be also upgraded and it will support 8MP.
