Some of you Nexus devices owners might already be enjoying the brand new Android 7.0 Nougat operating system from Google, and that is great. But something even better is about to hit your phone – Android 7.1 Nougat.

It appears that even though this OS comes with all of these new and awesome features, there is always room for improvement and even a VR platform and this is what the upcoming Android 7.1 Nougat update is supposed to bring when it rolls out.

However, this Android 7.1 Nougat update will first come as a developer preview beta sometime this month on specific devices. Those are the Nexus 5X, 6P, Pixel C.

Other Nexus (or Pixel) devices will get the beta upgrade later on, and the final build is expected to come sometime in December.

If you own these devices and want to see what the upcoming beta upgrade looks like, you’ll be able to download and install it if you’re enlisted into the Android Beta program. If you’re not already enlisted, then you’ll have to take the appropriate steps to do so.

1. Go to android.com/beta and sign up.

2. Sing into your Google account.

3. There will be a list of your eligible devices shown on the next page.

4. Enroll in the Beta program.

After you’re finished enrolling, you will start receiving OTA beta updates on your device. Naturally, you will also get the Android 7.1 Nougat OTA dev preview beta when it comes.

Another way to get the dev preview beta is to flash system images and there are specific 7.1 Nougat system images for each device that can be downloaded from many sources. However, this will wipe away all of the data on you device so, if you do this, make sure you’ve backed up your data beforehand.
