Android 7.0 Nougat was released in August, but shortly after that, Google started testing out version 7.1 on its Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X and Pixel C which were included in the beta program. On the other hand, Pixel X and Pixel XL, Google’s new smartphones, will skip Nougat 7.0 and will come installed with 7.1, then in December other Google phones will receive this update.

Google hasn’t announced the official release date for 7.1 Nougat, but we know for sure that it will make its debut on the new Pixel phones, and this will happen at the end of October. Some of the new features that will be included in the new version will be: Image Keyboard, which allows developers to offer users the possibility to send stickers emojis, GIFs and many more directly from the keyboard; Night mode will remove removes blue tints from the screen so that users will sleep better at night; App Shortcuts, which mimics Apple’s 3D Touch features, so when users press and hold an app icon, they can easily perform specific actions; fingerprint gestures and many more.
