Motorola had come up a list of the devices manufactured by the company that are getting the latest Android Nougat 7.0 update and this includes the Moto G series (4th Generation) Moto Z, Nexus 6, Droid Maxx, Moto X Style and Droid Turbo 2, among others. All in all, there were 15 Motorola devices on the list. The announcement came in the middle of the excitement over the Pixel and Pixel XL. Moto G and Moto Z are said to be getting the update at the last quarter of the year while there is really no timeline yet for the other update release for other models.
However, despite quite a number of Motorola models getting the update, there are also a number of devices that are not included in the list. These omissions are surprising since some of the devices that did not make it to the cut are also relatively recent models, such as the Moto G 2015 and the entry-level Moto E3 Power, This model was only introduced in the market in July 2016. Moreover, other Moto E series phones are also not included in the list and not getting the Android N update. But the Moto E series being ignored is not at all surprising since the Moto E 2015 did not already have the Marshmallow update in December last year.
Moto G 2015
The Moto G was unveiled on July 28, 2015 and its features include a 5-inch display, quad-core Snapdragon 410 SoC and a 13MP rear camera. It also boasts of the IPX7 certification which means that this model can survive water submersion of up to three feet for 30 minutes. With these features, an upgrade with the Android N would not have been bad but unfortunately, users just have to make do with the OS packaged with it although some forums have been started online with discussions asking that the Moto G (3rd Gen) be included in the update.
There have been talks that the reason behind the exclusion of the Moto E3 was its not being a U.S. product and even immediately after it was released in the UK, there have been no rumors about major updates. But with the inclusion of Moto X Style and Moto X Pure Edition, speculations will remain as they are.
For those wondering why phone enthusiasts are excited about the latest OS version for Android, the Nougat 7.0 boasts of features that include an improved User Interface and a faster access via Instant Apps as well as the enhanced power saving battery feature known as Doze. Moreover, Android Nougat 7.0 is compatible even on non-flagship devices.
There is also the newest messaging app from Google is the Allo, complete with embedded cool features. Aside from this, the Android Nougat also allows multitasking and split-window viewing for increased productivity and ease-of-use.
Other Motorola phones that are included in the list are Moto G Play, Moto X Style, Moto X Play, Moto X Force, Moto Z Droid, Moto Z Play Droid, Moto Z Play and Moto Z Force Droid. So, if you own any of these Motorola devices or has a plan of buying one, it’s important to know how you can update your Android phone to Nougat and enjoy its exciting features once the update has been released.
