It was a long wait but the Android Marshmallow update is finally rolling out to OnePlus X devices. Furthermore, it appears that the OS will also get a temporary bug fix. Users should know that the Android Marshmallow update will come as Oxygen OS, which is a modified version of the Android operating system that runs on all of the OnePlus devices. This particular OxygenOS update goes by the name 3.1.3.

So far, the OnePlus X has been running the Android 5.1 Lollipop version, but from now on it will be upgraded to Marshmallow. This is happening in the context of the latest Android operating system to come out from Google is Nougat and this suggests that the OnePlus X is very far away from upgrading to that.

However, users should be warned that the Marshmallow update for OnePlus X has a very annoying bug. It prevents them from accessing the Google Play Store and, consequently, to search and download for apps. So far, OnePlus has stated that they have handled the problem but that fix is temporary.

This is what users who want to upgrade will have to do in order to be able to access the Play Store. First, they will have to disable the Google+ app because it’s not compatible with the Play Store app. This can be achieved by going to Settings>> Apps>> Google+.

Some tech analysts believe that this isn’t the only problem because the OxygenOS 3.1.3 appears to not be receiving security updates from Google. This is rendering users vulnerable to many cyber-attacks, more so now, that they have to resort to downloading apps from a different place than the Google Play Store.

But we’re certain that OnePlus will fix all of these problems very soon and make sure that all users enjoy a safe app downloading experience.
